Chinatown: Big Market in Chinatown

  • Binh Tay market in ChoLon. Cho means BIG and Lo means MARKET. Old French style houses are still surrounding the market. In the center, there is and open space, decorated in a chineese style.
If you end your trip in Vietnam in Saigon, this is the place to buy all the things you want to take home.

  • The Notre Dame Cathedral twin towers is a familiar landmark in Ho Chi Minh City. It was built by the frech around the 1880s. In front of the cathedral in a small garden is a statue of the Virgin Mary. The interior of the cathedral is rather plain but it is a cool escape from the heat outside.
There are no formal opening time, just watch for services. The admission is Free; but donations are welcome

    Post Office: Post Office building
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • The main Post Office (or in Vietnamise Buu Dien Truong Tam ), stands across from the Notre Dame Cathedral. It was built in the late 19th century in European style. The interior has hardly been touched since it was built and is dominated by a huge portrait of Ho Chi Minh. The building always seems busy but most people are just visitors rather than customers. It is ppen daily from as early as 630 in the morning until 2130 at night.

you had the translations for the words Cho Lon mixed up. Cho means market, and Lon means big or large. By the way, great picture of the market.
