"Paris will always be Paris", a sentence from an old french movie... This city is quite unbelievable. Beautiful, attractive, mysterious, but depressing and disgusting sometimes... Paris if full of splendid places to discover and re-discover (look at the Eiffel Tower, "pretty in red" to celebrate the chinese new year's day, while the Chinese President was visiting our capital). The french "trend" is here and in no other part of France (that's what Parisians say !). It's the place to "see" : that means the place you have to visit, and the place in which you observe what happens in France, where you can feel in the vanguard of the world's movements (arts, culture, VIPs, new entertainment...). The french melting-pot could not be better displayed than in some of its areas (Barbes, Le Marais, La Goutte d'Or, Chinatown...). I have left Paris twice since I moved in the first time (1993), but, I have always come back... Twice, I had enough of this city, probably too big for me, but twice its good qualities and, above all, the flourishing job opportunities made me change my mind...

Thanks | jo104 Tue Sep 13, 2005 09:18 UTC thanks for your info on Paris my first experience was not so good but then again I was not so well informed & a newby traveller. Many happy returns for your birthday :-) Jo | Nemorino Mon Jun 13, 2005 11:19 UTC I'm not the world's most industrious consumer, but that's a good tip about shopping in those "arrondissements a deux chiffres". Nice photos on your "strange summer" travelogue! |
