Within the forest there are 4 trailsystem from which one can study the fauna and flora of the area. This includes fungi, ferns, palms, creeper and trees. There are also a number of forest animals, which have taken shelter here.
.........Secondary Forest...........
The nature park has 497 acres(201hectares) of secondary forest. This area was formly as mongrove forest.
After the coastal bund was constructed, the mangrove tress were unable to completewith the forest species which started growing faster.
With the emergence of the mangrove fern, which eventually took a strong hold of the area, it become quite impossible for the mangroves and flourish.
Straggling figs and another coastal trees like the Cordia dichotama; along with the mangrove fern now mainly dominate the secondary forest. Some stands of nature mangrove trees are still surviving in the secondary forest here.
...............Mangrove Forest.............
Mangrove covers about 234 acres(95hectares) and its is the most important ecosystem in the nature park. The young mangrove forest has 13 species mangroves. Mangroves fauna like the crabs, mollusks, mud skippers, horseshoe crabs, and fishes that are found here. Other mangrove relate animals like birds, monkeys and at occasions, snakes could also be sighted.
.........Lake system..........
This is man made lake with brackish water taken infrom mouth of the estuary of the Selangor River. The water leave controlled via sluice gates. Situated around the lake system, a number of hide from where one can observed various species of birds, especially water bird and waders. Numerous monkey, lizards and the occasional otter are sighted at the lake. Also the river mouth one also get a glimpse of various kinds of crabs, mudskippers and other animals too.
The Nature Park is a well-known birding area, as 156 residence and migratory birds have been recorded so.
