  • It was the Turkish occupation of Cyprus in 1974 that has divided the country.
The 'Green Line' patroled by UN peace-keeping troops divides the Greek Cypriot south from the Turkish controlled north.
Along this border you can find people who sit there, holding pictures of their missing relatives, men, women, children and old ones, and wait for some information.

  • 18 km from manavgat. Pass the village: Oymapinar Koyu, and shortly you will reach the enterance gate of the Oymapinar Baraji(Dam). 3 km inside this turn is the dam and reservoir lake of manavgat. This place is top guarded place, and you will need to entrust an identification card. You can not take any pictures. This one I copy from the internet :-)
It is assumed that 180 million cubic meters of water will be transported yearly with the completion of the project, which will also constitute a source of water for the Middle Eastern and North African countries.
Coming from a very dry country I esteem it a lot!

Sounds like it would be fun to travel along sampling and comparing the cheeses. In China it was the Dofu, Noodles and local Wine. In japan the local Sake.
