You can do this visit to the floating market to get away from all the bustle of the city. It's colourful and you'll have the opportunity to see Bangkok's surroundings. It's fun to buy things from one boat to another and interact with the vendors. You can buy almost anything here, exotic fruits, crafts, spices, crafts. It's very colourful! You can go there on your own or join one of the many tours on offer in any Bangkok hotel or tour operator.

This is the most well known temple in Bangkok and also the largest. It's where the Reclining Buddha can be found. The Wat Pho is amazing, with beautiful gardens and I was specially thrilled with the temples roofs. So that you can understand a bit of the history of the Wat Pho, I suggest that you hire a guide to show you around. They don't charge much and you can find them after you enter. It's a very interesting place, with much to see, so plan to stay there for at least a couple of hours to get to know the place in depth.

You have to go and see thai boxing ( muay thai). It's fun to watch. It's the Thai national sport, very traditional. It's considered a martial art in Thailand. Matches usually have no more than 5 rounds, each during about 3 minutes. You can see it in the stadiums of Lumpini or Ratchadamnoen in Bangkok. Ticket prices range from 220 to 1000 Baht.

The Jim Thompson's House is one of the best preserved traditional Thai houses in Bangkok city. Jim Thompson, an American, a former member of the US Office of Strategic Services came to Thailand during the World War II. He revived the flagging silk weaving industry later at the end of the war. Jim Thompson disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia in 1967. In the Jim Thompson House compound you will be guided to see many interesting collection of antiques and artworks from all over Southeast Asian region. The house has a restaurant and a shop where you can find the best thai silk. Things are a bit pricy though. It's open every day at 9 a.m and the last tour begins at 4.30 p.m. The admission is 100 baht.

This is a very popular shopping mall for locals and tourists . Located just across from Siam Square, it is most popular with the younger set, lots of trendy school girls here every evening. Here you will find plenty of restaurants and all manner of goods from cars to furniture. If you are looking for electronic goods such as Mini-Disc and CD walkmen, this is the place. All the goods of this nature are smuggled in and do not have VAT and local tax making MBK by far the cheapest place for Panasonic, Sony, Aiwa, etc. A good selection of copied video CDs, DVDs, and the premier place for PlayStation game copies from below 40 Baht each. It's always full of people and can get very crowded.
