Clervaux Abbey and other Clervaux, Luxembourg General Tips

Favorite Thing: This great place of tranquility is not that old as you should suppose to. It was build around year 1910 and the community of monks is connected to the social life of the whole area. They settled here when Benedict had to move from France.
In the ground zero you should find interesting information about all in the little local museum.

Favorite Thing: I didn't catch the meaning of the sign for tourist information office. If there is a witch sitting inside or every tourist is a witch for locals. :) However, it is really nice and people usually get a smile over there. Tourist information office is situated in the Castle of Clervaux.

Favorite Thing: Castle of Clervaux is situated in the city centre and was built in 12th century. In present days it is a little bit smaller because in 19th century and later in 1944 when there was a fight of Ardennes much of the fortification was destroyed.
You should see here at least three exhibitions, such as the fihgt of Ardennes, the exhibition of maquettes of Luxembourgoise castles and mannors and excellent exhibition of artistic photographs called "Family of Man".

Fondest Memory: My fondest memory was the last mentioned exhibition because it was really unique, just black and white photos taking around the world suggested everything dealing with life.

Favorite Thing: Parish Church was built up around 1910 as well as the Abbey. However it is decorated by mosaics and fragments that can confuse you when guessing the age of it. It stands nearby the Castle of Clervaux and on the half way to the Abbey.

Favorite Thing: Zone pietonne du centre a.k.a. city center :) just for pedestrians is a connection of more streets full of restaurants and hotels, shops and other commercial buildings of the town. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee or ice cream, great pastries and sandwiches.

Favorite Thing: There is a lot of angles you can make a photo of the city center but most of tourists prefer the view from the Castle or Church. You can catch the special atmosphere of the square where people are sitting on the benches and enjoy talking with friends, kids are playing around and you are just suspiciously searching for the camera because the scene is like from old movie.

Favorite Thing: This cute chapel is situated nearby railway station you need to cross the bridge to get there. It was built in roccoco style in 1762 and belongs to the most beautiful chapels in the Luxembourg.
