Actually it isn't that off the beaten tracks >:) just mine ... hehe Karlsplatz Cafe is a centre of crossroads of the underground and trams. The square got its recent look in 1977-78 when Sven Ingvar Andersson presented its view how the square should look like :). The central part of the whole square except the Karlskirche is an old building of public transport station created by Otto Wagner. The building is divided on two parts and one is underground stop and the other one is cafe (during the summer) and small gallery.

If you are in mood for shopping, avoid the main streets like Graben and turn to some others in the center. You will find tons of interesting shops smaller or bigger without bunches of tourists ...

When you are heading to the Rathaus it is on the way and if weather is fine it really will help your body to recover for a next walking. There is a little fountain and benches where you can observe the ordinary life such as in other place. Children playing, moms talking and pigeons searching for the little seeds...
