The Monasterio de Sopetran is since long time abandoned. Along the road there is a hostal (closed at our passing), and a sign indicating monasterio. Also in Hita there was a sign indicating the Monasterio de Sopetran.
The oldest parts of a monasterio on this place date from AD 611.
Some company has bought the ruins and is trying to restaurate it into something new. How intensive this work is, I can not judge. At my visit it was all silent and without any trace of recent work. On this side of the building there have been done reinforcements, and openings have been closed by bricks. Doors are closed and all is fenced in.
Must have been a beautiful building though, in its living days.

Not far from the monastery there is a little Ermita with a water tap besides.
This water tap was a popular point to get water (good for cooking and for coffe), also a popular place for excursions, to sit down in the green gras in the shadows and eating and drinking.
Although the monastery was not in function, the place still seemed to give some comfort.
During our stay several people in cars came and did fill their big bottles with this water.
- God for cooking and for coffe, they said.
