Whitneys Wanderlust

by whitneyone - last update: Jul 27, 2005

St Lucia from Pigeon Point
Beaches beaches and more beaches. That is my first love.
Sedona Arizona captures my heart for a while, as does the Grand Canyon, as do Lakes, Mountains, quaint towns and metropolitians, but it's the beaches that I dream about

Last visit to New York was September 2002. Nobody visits the New York page. You will get it all to yourself....unlike New York itself! I have found Manhattan hard to photograph. The scale is too grand for my little camera. I still try.
Brooklyn Heights is incredibly scenic and at the other end of Manhattan, the Cloisters, a museum with medieval art is astounding! Somewhere in the middle is the show-stopping Times Square!

I you like your towns on the ocean, but with a huge variety of things to do, check out Playa Del Carmen. It has all the best things that Mexico has to offer, with the extra added bonus of Mayan influence and all those INCREDIBLE ruins within an easy driving distance
Costa Rica, I need to go back..
St Lucia was magic
But it's Mexico that draws me back again and again. Further south of Cancun each time. If you only think of "ruins" when you think of tulum, you are in for a surprise when you find them. Unspoiled, gentle waves, the bluest of blue. I can't get tnough.
Akumal is a still undiscoverd little "resort" which isn't a resort at all. Low density condo's on half moon bay, one all inclusive low rise on the bay, lovely single family homes for rent, all on a perfect little bay, with enough restaurants to keep you happy for a week or two, and little night life to speak of. You will sleep well.
And find it in your dreams too

Happy Journey!

Hi Whitney, I am finally going to Akumal this March 2009 after a few years of wanting to do so. I hope it is just as I expected and as I have read in your comments. Staying at ABR. Hope my husband and I like it enough to buy a condo too!
