There are so many choices for food from lower priced to extremely highly priced places...you will have no problem finding a place to eat in Manhattan. There are restaurants every other building , so you walk by many and all have their own distinctive character. I tried several by just discovering them and trying them out and all have been great! One that was exceptional was the Dervish Restaurant in midtown
Favorite Dish: chicken kebabs and rice!!!! yum!!! and a nice chardonnay of course! Update 7/15/05: Had dinner and it was out of this world. The food here is excellent. Reminds me of the food I had in Istanbul and Syria. Perfectly spiced and presented......just great. I love this restaurant and keep going back. The atmosphere is great too. Perfect location, very tastefully decorated. Just a nice nice restaurant, reasonably priced, and the best middle eastern food...Highly recommended!!!!!!!!

This place is suppose to be a place where you can enjoy arabic music, maybe see a belly dance, and enjoy some nice Middle Eastern wine or food.. well, we went yesterday ( 7/15/05) and left after 5 minutes. First of all, when you go in, the bouncer outside tells you that its $ 20 minimum per person before you can go in( that you have to spend that much). Then when we went in, it was a dark dreary dump..and no arabic music, but american hip hop music! the only thing middle eastern in this place was their version of the hubbly bubbly which didnt even look like the waterpipes i saw in the middle east. They didnt have Lebanon wine ( which they should have if they call themselves a middle eastern restaurant/lounge). It was just a dump and we left after 5 minutes.....Dont waste your time in this place. Its in the east village......
Favorite Dish: nothing its dreary dump

We stopped here for a quick bite and really enjoyed this place. Its very clean and nice and a variety of gourmet soups. I had the tomato soup and really enjoyed it. Its a little expensive, i think $ 5 for a medium soup, but its really good and worth it.
Favorite Dish: I had the tomato soup..

We really enjoyed this restaurant. It was close to the park( short walk from hotel) and nestled in a nice area on the upper west side.
Favorite Dish: I had the chicken kabob ( as usual)! They were really nice big cubes of chicken though.. really tasty, wonderful, loved it! and nice basmati rice that was flavored. My dining mate ( mkdubai) had a lamb dish with a tomato yogurt type sauce. We both had hummus and stuffed grape leaves for our appetizer. It seemed average entree was about $ 18. I also had Turkish wine which i love. They were out of my favorite though ( canakye, I am sure i mispelled it but Turkish folks will know what i mean)! anyway, they had another brand that began with an A.. it was also very good.

Very enjoyable atmosphere and excellent food. The bar area is small but cozy. very nicely designed with visability into the restaurant that is two stories. You can be seated upstairs or downstairs. We were seated upstairs. First though we enjoyed cosmopolitans at the bar then had dinner on the second floor. This restaurant is very crowded and reservations well in advance are recommended. There is also a bar upstairs. Tables are close together and forget trying to fit in between the tables even you are pretty slim. Even though this place was packed, our service was incredible. Would definately return to this restaruant for sure.
Favorite Dish: wasabi encrusted filet migon......with extra large onion rings. Chicken dumplings.....cosmopolitans~
