A Bit of Chapet

by ExGuyParis - last update: Feb 11, 2007

Living in the Past

A Rare Snowfall in Chapet: 26/11/2005
In July 2002, we bought a house in Chapet, a small village about 40 km west of Paris. The population of the village is 1200. As you walk down the main street you feel like you have stepped back in time.

Pictured above, the center of the village. This building was once the school, Mairie (mayor's office), and library; although it no longer is a school, it still serves the two other purposes.

To get a feel for Chapet, visit the two travelogues below.

UPDATE: We've moved back to the US... outch.
Chapet from the Air

Chapet from Above

Our friend Christophe took us for a wonderful ride in a Cesna. We flew over Chapet, then headed North for the Normandy coast. This picture shows the village of Chapet, surrounded by farmland. You can see the Seine in the distance.
Chapet: Farming in the Valley

Life on the Ferme

Chapet still embodies the rural side of French life; fertile soil in the Seine valley offers farmers a rich tapestry to practice their craft.

Is it the nature? the views? the stone houses? the blue shutters, or the weekly market that one must love about this place? I'm envious. Wish I could afford your villa as a 2nd home.
