Paris is going whole hog in its effort to nab the 2012 Summer Olympics. A logo for the event has popped up all over the city, from the National Assembly building to the Big Metal Tower. The plan would involve a lot of existing venues (such as the Stade de France, pictured here, which would be rechristened Olympic Statium) plus the construction of numerous others. The Stade de France is huge, and hosts a variety of events, from Rugby to concerts. See the web site for some upcoming events. I hope the recent "NON!" vote on the EU Constitution hasn't dimmed the city's chances.

quelfromage Sun Feb 15, 2009 17:36 UTC so sad to hear of this. I was making a list of cheese restaurants for two friends who have 2 days in Paris. What happened to Androuet on rue d'Amsterdam? I only saw shops on the website. Not another loss? | vinc_bilb Tue Sep 23, 2008 08:44 UTC Hum, I'm wondering if you are not a little French, from soul perspective! Anyway, thanks for your great, excellent pages, avoiding the usual stereotypes. I learned a lot! | mircaskirca Tue Jul 1, 2008 21:02 UTC Great music info Paul! Although I did not understand the lyrics, my favourite Liane Foly's was Laisse PleurerLes Nauges. I tuned to FM 105.1 and to my pleasant surprise, there was a Madredeus song playing, one of my beloved Portuguese music :) | MmeSalon Tue Apr 22, 2008 17:28 UTC I just read an article saying that Starbucks is losing money; stock price has been dropping and retail sales are down. I too am disgusted by the thought of Starbucks and Mcdonalds and Burger Kings in Paris, even though I have yet to visit France. |
