Nightlife Spot: Hotel Costes
Hotel Costes-- a night spot or day spot. The hotel is very trendy; it's where 'the beautiful people' go. If you can get into the bar for a drink, you will enjoy fine music and the chic atmosphere, and see plenty of strikingly orgeous people. The cost for this: two drinks, 35 euros. Just imagine that the drinks are cheaper and you are paying a fee to see how the beautiful people live! The hotel is on rue Saint-Honoré, an up-up-upscale shopping street. Hotel Costes has become famous for its music as well-- 10 excellent CD's of 'chill' music mixed by Stéphane Pompougnac capture the ambiance of this hotel's mellow musical milieu. The Costes brothers are quite successful in the Paris club and restaurant scene. Another big success of theirs is Café Marly, at the Louvre. There you can have a drink and enjoy a view of the courtyard with its pyramid. In the warm weather you can drink and eat on the terrace outside.

Nightlife Spot: Cubana Café
Have a great Cuban meal in the Cubana Café (see the menu on the website), and then retire to the Cubana Club. Cuban cigars are completely legal in France (will the US ever get over it and open that market again?) Enjoy a fine cigar, Cuban music, and a drink. Ah, heaven! The restaurant is open Sunday - Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday: from 5:00 pm to 3:00 am; Thursday - Friday - Saturday: from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am The Cubana Club is open Sunday - Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday : from 11:00 am to 3:00 am; Thursday - Friday - Saturday : from 11:00 am to 5:00 am

vinc_bilb Tue Sep 23, 2008 08:44 UTC Hum, I'm wondering if you are not a little French, from soul perspective! Anyway, thanks for your great, excellent pages, avoiding the usual stereotypes. I learned a lot! | mircaskirca Tue Jul 1, 2008 21:02 UTC Great music info Paul! Although I did not understand the lyrics, my favourite Liane Foly's was Laisse PleurerLes Nauges. I tuned to FM 105.1 and to my pleasant surprise, there was a Madredeus song playing, one of my beloved Portuguese music :) | MmeSalon Tue Apr 22, 2008 17:28 UTC I just read an article saying that Starbucks is losing money; stock price has been dropping and retail sales are down. I too am disgusted by the thought of Starbucks and Mcdonalds and Burger Kings in Paris, even though I have yet to visit France. | mallyak Tue Mar 25, 2008 21:00 UTC Great pages on a great city...we will be in paris and July..and this is an excellent preview! |
