Cafayate is located in Calchaquies valley, in the province of Salta. It is about 180km away from the capital city of Salta. It is well known for its torrontes wines. It is a very beautiful place and the drive from Salta city to Cafayate will provide you with some of the most magnificent sceneries you have ever experienced.

If you are interested in geology, you will find this place amazing. You can see clear separation of land masses and various uplift and subsidence zones.
