Since Milan was my home away from home for 6 months, I had plenty of time to search the side streets, explore the big sites, visit museums, hang out in the parks, and many other things that can often be overlooked on a shorter stay. At a quick glance Milan seems to lack the glamour of other Italian cities, it feels as big as it is, it has a lot of industry, and the people move at a quicker place than they seem to in the rest of Italy. But, Milan is actually a great city full of history from its time as a major Roman provincial city and the edict of Milan to the presence of Da Vinci, who was frequently in or around Milan to Napoleon who wished to reshape the city in a Parisian style. Today, Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world and a major financial center for Italy. Although what Milan has to offer to a traveler might not be as well known as other cities in Italy, there is plenty to do for all types, museumgoers, history buffs, shoppers, and those interested in the nightlife. |
The problem of travel I wish I had more pictures of Milan to share, but much to my disappointment, I lost a role or two of film (I do not yet own a digital camara) that had many of my pictures of Milan. Thankfully I have my memory of the city, still I wish I would have those pictures to recall events of my visit. |
