"Shanghai of my Dreams" a Shanghai Travel Page by herzog63

As a kid I used to love watching the old Black & White movies about China and Shanghai!! Just hearing the word "Shanghai" sounded so exotic to me! And it still does. Hearing about somebody getting Shanghai'ed etc...So when I decided to go to China for a month I made sure that Shanghai was on the list of places to visit! I didn't want to get Shanghai'ed though! LOL I was probably expecting Humphrey Bogart to hop of some ship with fog all around and say "Where ya headin kid"? I didn't run into Humphrey but I had a blast! I loved wandering around the old parts of the city! Some of my favorite spots where along the Wusong River where alot of the barges are docked. And the alleyways and small streets near the Wuxinting teahouse. I seemed to see the city in Black and White for some reason! I think my brain transformed to the 1940's and Shanghai itself helped me to vision it that way! It was fairly cold and dreary most of the 5 days that I spent in Shanghai. From what I have read here on VT in think Shanghai has changed alot since 1987! The Pudong Dadao wasn't much more than Marsh land and now it has loads of Skyscrapers built in the area so I'm told! I hope you like the black & white photos. They add to the charm for me.
