Favorite Thing: The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge is a huge area! About 2/3 of Kodiak Island is inside the refuge. There are public use cabins available. Lot's of wildlife viewing! Fishing and Hunting. It is not an easy place to get too though. You must fly in or take a boat from the city of Kodiak. If you are on a small budget don't even consider it although getting into the refuge can be done cheaply with some great planning. But you should be an accomplished back country hiker with experience in Bear Country!
Oddly enough there are only 6 Animals native to Kodiak Island and they are Kodiak Brown Bear, red fox, river otter, short-tailed weasel, little brown bat, and tundra vole . All of the others have been introduced my man!
To get detailed infomation you should contact the refuge directly.
