Favorite Thing: Go for rides on the road system. A ride out to Fossil Beach on a sunny day is Awesome! It is about 50 miles from downtown. You can find Fossils buried in the cliffs just past where the road stops. Mostly clam shells and snails. But you might get lucky and find something cool. They are very fragile!

Fondest Memory: If you get your fishing license during the Salmon season you can fish at many of the roadside rivers.

Float Plane

Favorite Thing: If you have the $$$ Take a fly-in Bear Viewing trip!! They are awesome. You will fly on a float plane and hike to a Bear viewing area. You will be able to get some Awesome Bear photos in their natural surroundings. Be sure to bring a Zoom lense.

Favorite Thing: If you're a coffee drinker stop in and have a cup at Harbor Side. They serve pastries too. It's also a great place for some local conversation! On the sunny days you can sit outside.

Favorite Thing: Kodiak is the home to the United States Coast Guards largest base. There are a few thousand Coast personel and families living on Kodiak Island.

Favorite Thing: Look at the rocky cliffs and rocks that stick up out of the sea and you will quite often see Puffins. A small sea bird with a colorful beak.

Uganik yurt

Favorite Thing: I spent a summer in this Yurt. I was a commercial fisherman in Uganik Bay. It withstood 100 MPH winds! Except one night the top plastic sunlight dome blew completely off!.

Fondest Memory: One of my fondest memories of my summer in Uganik Bay was my first day at work we had a whale go through our net and made a huge (Whale Sized) hole!
