    • Favorite Thing: This is one of the beautiful churches in Zermatt. I didn't notice any ancient churches like the ones that are found in other parts of Switzerland.

    • Favorite Thing: The monolith of the Matterhorn is visible from just about everywhere in the area! I don't remember how tall it is but it sure is beautiful!! Sorry for the quality of my 20 year-old photos but that's all I have!!

    • Favorite Thing: On some of the hikes that I did I came across shepards or farmers I don't know what they call themselves in this area but they were a very friendly people! I would just greet them and move on. I didn't want to bother them with a photo but I took a picture of the animals.

    • Favorite Thing: On one of my longer hikes the sun set very fast and I wasn't prepared for it! At this point I'm about half way on the trail back to town and the sun is setting as it was late afternoon. My last 1½ hours of the hike were done in the night without any flashlight or moonlight to see by! You can see in the picture it is already getting darker in town as the sun goes behind the mountains.

    • Favorite Thing: In many of the mountains in the area you can spot Glaciers. The blue ice is really beautiful but you don't want to stand under the calving end of it!! As huge chunks of ice fall off the edge!

    • Favorite Thing: The mountains surrounding Zermatt are very rugged! As you walk near this kind be careful as there are probably goats or antelope way up high that knock small stones and sometimes big ones down as they walk around!! It happened to me and luckily I heard the stones coming and ducked behind some boulders for protection.

    • Favorite Thing: I spotted quite a few of these White Faced Goats or Antelope above Zermatt! They are very sure footed and curious. They won't let you get very close. At least I couldn't.
