Anandhasamakhom Palace - Thailand

Anandhasamakhom Palace

Anandhasamakhom Palace

Favorite thing: This palace looked a little out of place as it is built of the europeon style and doesn't look Thai at all. One of the earlier Kings had studied in Europe and I guess he came home with some new ideas.

Wat Saket - Thailand

Wat Saket

Wat Saket (Golden Mount)

Favorite thing: In Bangkok another of my favorite Temples is Wat Saket. It is built on an artificial hill. From the top you can get some beautiful views of Bangkok. The grounds are very quiet and cool as there are lot's of trees. Near the top you will find the series of Bells that you can see my son pictured with. It costs 10 baht to go all the way to the top. But if you don't want to stand at the very top it is free.

Bangkok - Thailand

Bangkok

Canal Gates

Favorite thing: Just north of Bangkok you can see there are canal gates to allow the flow of water into one of the canals. I'm sure it would be nice to give some of those canals a good flushing once in a while! Some of them are so stangnant! Whew!! Especially on a hot day.

Missing Buddha heads - Thailand

Missing Buddha heads

Buddha Heads

Favorite thing: Buddha heads must've been highly sought after by early explorers and visitors to the country as it is rare to find a small buddha with it's head still intact. They are most probably in Museums in the US and Europe!! Very sad to think these guys couldn't just visit and document what they saw but NOOOOOOoooooo they had to bring home souvenirs and there weren't any souvnenir shops back then??

River Boat - Thailand

River Boat

River People

Favorite thing: There are lot's of rivers in Thailand. So the people that work the boats quite often live on the boats with their families. It is common to see a boat going down the river drying clothes.

Local guys at the stop sign - Thailand

Local guys at the stop sign

Hazy day

Favorite thing: Hazy day in March. Here you can see that the day is quite hazy. It is in March and we had the threat of thunder and lightning a couple times. I think it only actually produced one storm though. Most of the locals don't wear strong shoes or long pants while riding. Helmets are also quite rare too. Although the police are starting to crack down on that a little bit more.

Looking for Gibbons - Thailand

Looking for Gibbons

I could hear them but couldn't see them

Favorite thing: Here in this group of trees we could hear Gibbons but we couldn't actually see them! I was a little dissapointed that we couldn't see them but I will never forget the sounds that they made! It could have been VT member Zrim !! He is good at making the sound of the Gibbon!!

destruction in the morning - Thailand

destruction in the morning

Destructive Elephants!!

Favorite thing: On our last day in the morning as we were driving to Haew Narok Waterfall we found a section of the road where small trees had been torn down and street signs and road markers were all ripped up too! There had been some bad elephants there during the night or early in the morning. As there was stuff all over the road. It was interesting and I wish I could've witnessed it myself but the elephants didn't want me to see them!
When we passed back through the area 2 hours later the park rangers had already cleared all of the fallen trees and other debris from the road.
