  • There are alot of cheap guest houses on and around Khao San Rd. I don't know much about the higher end places as I always travel on a lower end budget. There are regular hotels in the area also. Bangkok can fill any travel budget from just a few dollars to $4000 per night suites.
$4-$8 per night. Most of the cheap guest houses aren't much more than thin plywood cubicles but they are generally clean and offer a good nights sleep.

Unique Qualities: It is in the Tourist Ghetto of Bangkok. But very close to The Grand Palace , Wat Pho, Chao Phrya River. There are plenty of street stalls and small restaurants in the area too!

  • Well I've never stayed here I just liked the way it looked from the outside so I took a picture. It is right on the river and the upper floors would give you some fantastic views. All amentities that you high-end people like will be available here. I'm a cheap traveller so you wouldn't find me here. Rooms start at around $200 but I'm sure if you book on-line you can get that price down a bit.

Unique Qualities: All of the pleasures of home and then some!! You probably won't see any cockroaches here! LOL

    Suk 11: Decent Old building

  • On this last trip I only stayed in Bangkok for 1 night and I wanted to be fairly near the the Myanmar Embassy and the sky train so I stayed at Suk 11. It was a very nice place but for my liking it was quite expensive compared to the places on Khao San Road. But for the plus side it had character as it was in a traditional looking wooden building and the rooms were't concrete boxes! The part that I stayed in was under construction.

There are other options available too!

Unique Qualities: It's on a very quiet street and the people that run it are very friendly and helpful.

Stay in the sukhumvit area, It's much nicer. I'm staying at a great place on sukhumvit soi 1 called soi 1 guesthouse. I loved Thailand and hope that I will return soon.

.........and another experience I had at Wat Arun was someone offering a photo opp (for money of course) with a rather large python! .........for shoppers, the T-shirt range here is exceptionally good!
