The Mayan ruins of Mayapan are facinating to see. Although not as large as say Chichen Itza or Palenque, they are still worth visiting. The architecture is somewhat similar, although there are some notable differences. The site is not very well known, which makes it great for exploring on your own off beaten paths. The Mexican govenment is in the slow process of rebuilding some of the structures. There is a small fee to enter (about .50 US cents) and they will charge you a fee to use a video camera.(Notice the lawn mower in the middle of the picture.) |
