White Sands National Monument is actually part of the White Sands Military testing ground. It's amazing how in this valley ringed with mountains that you have this pure, white gypsum sand formed into these huge dunes! It's almost an illusion, except for the fact that you can slide down them like snow! There is a visitor's center that gives you some facts about the monument. So bring your sled and have a great time with this illusion of the desert! |
