I was a missionary for my church when I lived in Lima. It was really quite the adventure having never left the USA before, then being dropped in the middle of this large city, not speaking spanish very well, and expected to talk to people. I definately learned some patience! Since I was a missionary, I didn't get a chance to see much of Lima, so I don't have very many photos, which makes me want to return and see the rest of Peru as well. The parts that I did see most people probably wouldn't, like the shantytowns and rivers with trash, people attempting to build houses out of whatever they could. Most of it was a culture shock, but I learned to love the people and the culture for who they were, not what their situation was. I truly love the people of Peru and would gladly return anyday! |
