"What a place!" Versailles by shdw100
Versailles Travel Guide: 657 reviews and 2,428 photos
My wife and I went to Versailles, which is a short train ride outside of Paris, about 30 minutes. It was winter, so we were fortunate to have seen a different view of what the palace and gardens were like. Even though it wasn't as pretty as say spring, it was still worth the visit. If you do go, do not go on a Monday, like we did. It was closed :-( So, we decided to walk around the palace then went to the Grand Trianon where King Louis XIV spent his time away from Versailles
- Pros:Amazing place
- Cons:Visit any other day besides Monday!
- In a nutshell:Great place to view French history and royalty

this is somewhere I have always wanted to visit, I`ll make sure not to go on a Monday now !
Ok, I didn't know about the bit about King Louis dying in that bed chamber! I only knew that his body was kept for 8 days in a certain rm.
Beautiful picture of the chamber.... but then why did you take the pic if you weren't supposed to??? Highly recommendable place if you want to spend a good $$$....
Excellent observations of the King's bedchamber! :)
Versailles, it was open but I got to the Hall of Mirrors to discover my wallet stolen. Ran back to Paris to cancel credit cards . Now aren't you glad you missed that. Yelled at in French for breaking rules in France - figures, but you got a nice picture!
Went to Versailles about 15 years ago. Apart from the enormous gardens the thing I remember most was the long room with mirrors all the way down. Can't remember the name of the room, but boy was it beautiful.
my favorite part of all of Versailles, that awesome checkerboard patio with the cool pink marbly pillars! thanks for the memories, also in Jan...1996...
Just amazing, a piece of history...
What a stunning stunning place. I suppose I shall just have to add it to my must sees.
Nice impression on Versailles.
