Oahu - Where's Magnum P.I.?

Waikiki Beach
Honolulu is the largest city in Hawaii. The Island is best known for Waikiki Beach and Pearl Harbor.

Honolulu was a great city, Waikiki was a great beach, and there are a ton of activities to participate in while on the island.

I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get to check out the Pearl Harbor Memorial, but I did get to go in the base (albeit, to see another ship). The University is amazing and for the best views of the city, check out Diamondhead Crater, definitely worth the hike.

Although, truth be told, I'd rather spend more time in Maui or one of the less populated islands.

Fun Facts about Honolulu

Honolulu has a population of 876,000, average temperatures range from 70° to 84° F, and had over 4.7M visitors in 2000.

Smallest of the four counties in geographical size, it has three-fourths of the State's population.

Legally it includes most Northwestern Hawaiian Islands to Kure Atoll which is 1,367 miles from Honolulu.

Despite its urban nature, many crops are grown on O‘ahu. Vegetables and fruits, including pineapple, are cultivated. Sugarcane production ended in 1996.

Aquaculture (1999): 44 operations with a production value of $2.3 million

The majority of military personnel and dependents reside on O‘ahu. Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard is probably the most widely known military installation. The unified military command for the Pacific (CINCPAC) is also located on O‘ahu.

Hit the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet- I lived in their T-shirts for years. Get the SLIGHTLY more expensive ones though. Goodwill has LOTS of almost-new Hawaiian shirts for 1/4 the price you will find in the good shops- 1/10th the price of Waikiki stalls.
