Bus Service

The bus is a good way to get around the Strip and downtown Las Vegas when it's off hours. Off hours meaning the early morning until early afternoon. After that, the bus is probably no faster than walking. At busy times, it will take you approx an hour just to make the 4.0 mile trip from one end of the strip to another.

I must say for such a tourist-orientated city, the bus service does not seem to be good at all, and I have heard even the locals complaining about this to tourists on the bus.

The bus routes along the strip have been replaced by double decker buses called "The Deuce" which go along the strip and end up downtown. The bus is supposed to run every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. I emphasize SUPPOSED TO , as at one point we had to wait 40 minutes, and this was not at a busy time. Fare along the strip is $2.00 and if you are not a walker or need to go other places, a 24-hour $5.00 day pass is a better bet.

Your Own Two Feet

From our experience the only way, if you can, to get around Las Vegas is WALKING. The bus has it's place, but you'll find that either buses or taxis are stuck in rush hour traffic on the strip, and your best bet is walking.

Sadly, walking is much faster if you're headed somewhere on the strip during busy times. To give you an idea of length, the strip is approximately 4.0 miles long.
