Be careful..after 20h, shops are closed Downtown...strange people are around this time...to sell drug and to other stuff. Dont use Photo Machine there, wallets with just some €....Open your eyes and walk always in a group! In spite of that...enjoy the great Capital!

There's a negative attitude toward the civil servants who go around in pairs serving and protecting this city. Be polite when asking for help and you'll have a better experience with the authorities. There's not a lot of crime in Lisbon by big-city standards, and few prisons. There are two kinds of cops. One has a round hat, carries a small stick, and doesn't do much but window-shop and break up groups of shady-looking kids dancing in the streets. The other wears a baseball hat, carries a bigger stick, and deals with more menacing criminals. In other words, don't mess with the cops in baseball hats carrying big sticks; they're waiting to use those things, and in this case, size does matter.
