Rosagasario A place to stay

by Rebecca_jp - last update: Feb 11, 2003

Rosario is not the biggest city in the world, maybe not the most impressive one, but is a place to share with friends, to have some fun, a place you will always keep in your heart, as me. I've been here since I was 5 years old, I can't imagine being in other place, many things to remember, many people to remember and the city, it has many places to be discovered for someone who likes to find out its real life, its real identity. Are you one of them?

A little bit of History

Rosario has not an official founder.
At the
beginning of the XVIII century was just a rest stop between Buenos Aires and Santa Fe, it was called Pago de los Arroyos, the nearest translation is Place of the little streams.
In 1721 the area was divided between Buenos Aires and Santa Fe and in
1725 the first Brotherhood Mayor was appointed.
The first inhabitants live with agriculture and cattle raising, they had to fight against indians, nature and isolation. The first houses were built around a precarious chapel.
In
1823 the place called first Capilla de los Arroyos (Little Streams Chapel) and after Capilla de Rosario de los Arroyos (Rosario of the Little Streams Chapel) was nominated Village.
In
1852, at last, it was nominated City. The first municipal government was in 1860.

El Che, siempre presente

Lautaro doesn't know 'El Che' yet but someday he will, it's part of our history and our lives, love and hate are the feelings about him in this city but he is still alive.
If you can understand some spanish check the special info about Che's life in this site:

It was published on November 13th of 2002 because of the 35th year after his dead
