Vinaroz - Vinaros and other Vinaroz, Spain General Tips

Favorite Thing: Vinaroz (or Vinaros in catalan) is a little town with a bit more than 20000 inhabitants situated between Barcelona and Valencia in the province Castellon, just in the limit to province Tarragona in the north. There´s less tourism than in a lot of other regions especially in the north all around Barcelona. A lot of of tourists have got summer houses here.

Fondest Memory: I spent various summer holidays here, have had a brilliant time with as well a bit of beach holiday as also sightseeing tours to e.g Morella, Valencia or the the estuary of the Ebro. Nice little village near to Vinaroz is Peñiscola. In general I would say there´s less tourism, a lot of silence, more contact to spanish people, beaches with still a lot of space (not that crowded) and a great sunny weather.

Fondest Memory: taken from the back porch of the house where we stayed. Around 6 o´clock in the morning in April.

Favorite Thing: have a look at my travelogues. The harbour is very beautiful. It´s a 100% real fishing port, I think every day you can go to buy freshest fish directy from the boat.

Fondest Memory: I love to sit on the beach in the evening or at night just listening to the ocean. The sound is so beautiful, relaxing...but you also realize the power of the ocean.

Favorite Thing: one of the not private guest houses in the northern destrict. The beach from where the photo is taken was "our" beach, it´s a stone beach but this is often better respect of the real hot sand you normally lay on.

Favorite Thing: example of beautiful buildings in the northern district of Vinaroz. The whole zone is full of these apartment houses. As well foreign tourists as spanish people from e.g. Madrid have their houses here.

Favorite Thing: there are several beautiful private houses in the destricts north of Vinaroz. A lot of them are vacation houses of Spanish, Dutch or German families. But a lot of them do offer their houses to others when they are not in Vinaroz.
I have to check again how to get the contact.
It´s worth it, the houses are often really big, you can go with 8 or 10 friends renting a whole house, normally for very good conditions.

Favorite Thing: this is a view to the north, aprox 1 km from here is a beautiful camping place directly next to the coast.
