  • First of all I would like to make a list of all these excellent food you have to test in Peru. In Lima you find all of them in great variety:

ANTICUCHOS (grilled heart of cow with potatoes and a hot sauce)

CEVICHE or CEBICHE(raw fish and sea fruits in a lemon sauce with onions, some special spices)

PAPA A LA HUANCAINA (potatoes with a spicy sauce made out of eggs, oil, aji (spicy sauce), salt crackers.........

AJI DE GALLINA (cooked chicken with special spicy sauce (aji)) I found great preperation tips at VT karigalli´s page

TAMALES (can´t explain it very well, it´s a mass of corn with eggs and meet put into the leaf of corn

    CAUSA RELLENA

    PALTA RELLENA

OCOPA (another tipical sauce like the "a la huancaina")

LOMO SALTADO (grilled beef in little pieces with rice and salad)

CHURROS (sweet dough filled with honey, you can get it at every corner in the city, really deliciuos)

POLLO A LA BRASA (ok, you can get grilled chicken all around the world, but the sauce they use is delicious!!!)

    The most common drinks are:

CHICHA MORADA (a drink made of purple corn)

INKA COLA (very sweet yellow soft drink)

PISCO (a type of grape brandy, used for Cocktails, especially PISCO SOUR or to drink the better ones pure....delicious!)

There are also some good peruvian wines, although mostly drinken are chilenian ones. Can´t recommend a peruvian wine, (disculpenme peruanos, no les conozco muy bien) but I like very much the
CASILLERO DEL DIABLO, the red wine from Chile. Normally you can get it in a lot of stores in Perú.

Favorite Dish: I adore from all of these ...all....:-)
ok, my favs are ANTICUCHOS in the streets, late at night after being out e.g.
    and CEBICHE!!!!
TAMALES are great for breakfast as well.

Bembo´s: The best hamburguesa, if you don´t eat street food
  • Tip Rating:
  • Restaurant Name: Bembo´s

This is a peruvian chain similar to McDonalds or Burger King but much better.
You find them everywhere in Lima around the main places and main streets.
They are better and still a bit cheaper!

Favorite Dish: there are several menues...what I like in general in southamerica and probably in a lot of other countries but not in Germany....you can choose between a lot of sauces and take as much as you want and it doesn´t cost extra!

Hi CHancay. I want to tell you that the buildings are painting in that special yellow because , it was one of the colors that used to paint when there was the spaniard colony.
