Back to school

First impression

I got to Salamanca late Sunday evening, July 6th. The sun was setting, which couldnīt have offered me a better first impression of Salamanca: a beautiful city with lots of historical buildings in piedra dorada (golden stones).

Iīm here to study some more Spanish. I graduated 2 years ago and have a degree in interpreting French/Spanish, but lately I felt like my Spanish got a bit rusty and since I had to find an alternative plan for my big trip, I choose to come back to Spain. Iīm happy that I did.

Everyone is really friendly. Iīm staying at a Residencia del Colegio and the directora is a very nice lady. I have my own room with a very nice view of the Catedrales, beautifully lit at night.

The Colegio is very well organized. I had a test yesterday morning to determine my level and Iīm so happy to still be in the Superior 2 level, the highest level.

Itīs very interesting to have to go back to school. I have one hour of Cultura in the morning from a nice gentleman, Joaquin, and then 2 hours of Gramatica of Maria Luisa and 2 hours of Conversacion from Reyes in the afternoon. All of the teachers are really nice. The classes seem very intersting. I feel like I will learn a lot these next 2 weeks.

Yesterday, we had a 2 hour guided tour of the city. I will definately take some time to walk around by myself, take some nice pictures, get the feel with the people and the city.

The only thing that I donīt like about being here, is the food. Itīs too greasy!!!
