THE BIG EASY

You either love this place for its exorbitant amount of energy or you hate it for the same reason. But, either way you will leave New Orleans having experienced a culture, city and people that are like no other.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Orleans' History

NOLA lies between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain; this is only about an 8 mile span. The suburbs spread out into a bunch of swampland that was drained to allow more drunk fools to live here! New Orleans has a few nicknames: NOLA,the "Crescent City," due to the Mississippi River’s shape as it curves around the CBD, and the "Big Easy", a view of the city's general way of life.

It was founded in 1718 by the French. In 1762, Spain gained control, until France regained it in 1800, only to sell it to the United States three years later in the Louisiana Purchase (Geez, people! Make up your mind!)
With huge cotton and sugar plantations and the thriving port, New Orleans boomed with trade and, by 1860, was the wealthiest city in the country.

**Info was gathered from various sites, put in my words, with only what I thought was cool.**

You've got great pictures and you have done a great job of covering New Orleans. Of course, the question remains, is it still the same as when you took these pictures?
