Getting TO/AROUND: Tuk-Tuks are the best way to get around short distances, or when you are lost. You should never pay more than 40 Baht for a single trip. Some tuk-tuk will rent themselves out to you for the day, selling you on the fact that they will not make you pay until the end of the ride, on an agreed upon price. Basically, you tell them all the place you want to go, and they will bring you and then wait for you as you tour the sites, and if the happen to leave (which they won't) then you don't pay. Only get in tuk-tuk's with a yellow license plate, as these are the ones that are registered. Not that it matters much...

Getting TO/AROUND: I found taxis in Bangkok to be extremely clean, fast, and cheap. I took a taxi with A/C all the way from the airport to Khao San Rd, and it cost me less than 200 Baht (5 USD). Sometimes, taxis can be cheaper than tuk-tuks because they seems to want the business. I found that out as I was going back to my hotel from the Muay Thai fight and the taxi guy low bid the tuk tuk driver I was bargaining with!

Category: Bus
Getting TO/AROUND: All package tour buses from the south (KL and Singapore) arrive at the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok. This is FAR from the center of Bangkok and Khao San areas. Most buses, because of the length of the trip, arrive at some ungodly hour of the night. It is best to find a taxi quickly and just go. The entire area is filled with people you won't be inviting home any time soon.
