Wnet to Mexico in Feb 2002 on my own. Flew from London to Mexico City where I stayed for 3 nights. Saw Pyramids of Sun and Moon and explored much of the city. Apparently biggest city in world with 26 million people. Very busy. Locals generally friendly. However armed guards everywhere due to high levels of crime. Quite cheap for westerners. Used Lonely Planet guide to source accommodation and some eateries (v good).
Flew down to Acupulco - very hot (40+). Got ripped off by taxi driver who also asked if I wanted a pro - refused. Beautiful beach and stunning scenery but place is very commercialsed (like a Mexican Benidorm). Good tours and many nice eateries. Friendly people, especially when you are English. Be careful when walking or on trips to keep drinking.
It was Sprnig Break so place full of young americans partying till late but tended to stick with their own.
Would like to visit some of rural Mexico if I get a chance.
Sorry - pictures not yet developed.
