Vysehrad, the so-called birth place of Prague is one of the most beutiful areas to visit. The main attraction is the famous Church of St. Peter and Paul. It is situated on the top of a hill and you can easily spot it from the Castle area. This picture is taken from one of the decorations by the front entrance to this church.

On the left side of the Church of St. Peter and Paul you can spot a nice cemetery. It has been used as a National Cemetery since 1861 and over 600 famous Czech authors, poets, painters, musicians, actors, architects, sculptors and scientists have been buried there. You can also find a place called Slavin there -- it is a memorial where several people have been buried under the same gravestone.

Vltava River with its beautiful swans. On the background you can see couple of bridges and even the St.Vitus Cathedral (very far away though).

It could easily be called the most original church in Prague because I am sure you haven't seen anything quite like that before. At first you can't decide if you like it or not -- I thought it was the ugliest church when I saw it first, but have grown to love it. It adds so much character to the square and the whole area. This church was completed in 1932 and it is the work of Slovenian architect Josef Plecnik. He also made some additions to Prague Castle and has some magnificent works home in Slovenia.

AgentBrittany83 Sun Mar 8, 2009 18:04 UTC Magnificent Prague is correct. Definitely one of my top favorite places I want to see in my life time. Your pictures are beautiful. | Jerelis Thu Aug 30, 2007 14:42 UTC Nice page about Ptaque, brings back memories! Haven't been to the little colourful street of Zlata ulicka, looks great! Thanx for sharing. | hvrd Wed Aug 16, 2006 12:57 UTC Great pages and photos! :) I just love that city. My personal favourite when I was there was the old Jewish cemetery. They couldn’t make it scarier if they tried! | dlandt Mon Aug 7, 2006 19:22 UTC Is the Plzensky Restaurant Andel also a good place to just sit and try different Czech beers and maybe meet people? |
