  • Vysehrad, the so-called birth place of Prague is one of the most beutiful areas to visit.

The main attraction is the famous Church of St. Peter and Paul. It is situated on the top of a hill and you can easily spot it from the Castle area.

This picture is taken from one of the decorations by the front entrance to this church.

  • On the left side of the Church of St. Peter and Paul you can spot a nice cemetery. It has been used as a National Cemetery since 1861 and over 600 famous Czech authors, poets, painters, musicians, actors, architects, sculptors and scientists have been buried there.

You can also find a place called Slavin there -- it is a memorial where several people have been buried under the same gravestone.

Old-Town Square: Magnificent Old Town Square
  • Tip Rating:
  • Prague's Old Town Square is one of my favorite places in the city because whatever direction you decide to look, you will face something magnificent! Don't miss it when you visit Prague!

Things To Do: Prague main Post Office
  • Tip Rating:
  • A view of Prague's main Post Office right in the center of the town. All the walls are hand painted and it is definitely worth a little stop on your tour. I don't think I have ever seen such a big and well-designed post office before.

  • Vltava River with its beautiful swans. On the background you can see couple of bridges and even the St.Vitus Cathedral (very far away though).

Golden Lane: A little colourful street of Zlata ulicka
  • Tip Rating:
  • Golden Lane is a short, little street with colorful houses that were built during the 16th century. First they were occupied by the sharpshooters of the castle, then squatters and later by some famous artists like Franz Kafka. Most of them serve as souvenir shops now and the street is constantly full of tourists. I enjoyed the visit in 1997, but was disappointed to return some years later to find out that one has to pay now to visit the street.

    Dancing House: Dancing house
  • Tip Rating:
  • If you are interested in modern architecture, check out the dancing house that was completed in 1996. The architects of the curvy and unique looking building are Vlado Milunic and Frank O Gehry.

  • It could easily be called the most original church in Prague because I am sure you haven't seen anything quite like that before. At first you can't decide if you like it or not -- I thought it was the ugliest church when I saw it first, but have grown to love it. It adds so much character to the square and the whole area. This church was completed in 1932 and it is the work of Slovenian architect Josef Plecnik. He also made some additions to Prague Castle and has some magnificent works home in Slovenia.

Petrin tower: Petrin tower - Eiffel tower lookalike
  • Tip Rating:
  • You can see the Petrin tower from many places in the city as it sits on the top of the Petrin Hill (318m). It was built in 1891 for the Prague Exposition and it is 60 meters high. If you don't mind the heights, don't mind paying 30Kc and love to climb 299 steps, you are welcome to do so:)

    Petrin: Petrin Hill
  • Tip Rating:
  • Petrin Hill or Petrinske Sady is a beautiful green area that links together eight different parks. It is 318 meters high and perfect for nice long walks and gorgeous views of the city (if you make it to the top, of course-hehee). If you don't think that you can climb up on your own, you can take a funicular (going up from Ujezd).

Great pages and photos! :) I just love that city. My personal favourite when I was there was the old Jewish cemetery. They couldn’t make it scarier if they tried!

Is the Plzensky Restaurant Andel also a good place to just sit and try different Czech beers and maybe meet people?
