| Sundial at Queens College |

Cambridge is above all known for being home to one of the world finest universities - Cambridge University. It is a lively and a very green town (at least when I was visiting it during the August).
There are 31 Colleges in Cambridge, three of which admit only women and two only graduate students. Other Colleges are for all students. It is important to know that each College is an independent institution, having its own property and budget.
The main picture of this page was taken during my tour through the Queens College. I was absolutely stunned by this sundial that dates back to 1642, however, got its current style/looks in 1733. Usually the sundials were used to show time, but when other markers are added, sundials can also show other kind of information. Besides showing time, the sundial at Queens College shows the sign of the zodiac, month of the year, time of sunrise, length of daylight hours, elevation of the sun, and even the time of night. It is a magnificent piece of work, so don't miss it when you happen to go to the Queens College!!
