Aigues-Mortes is situated in the heart of the Camargue region. The city was founded in 1240 by Louis IX. It used to be one of the royal ports; however, today the sea is about five kilometers away. The city has changed little since the Middle Ages and is still a fully walled town.

Nice page with very good photos of wonderful Aigues-Mortes. Do you know it means "dead water" as it is no more a harbor ?

I had to walk from here at 2am, all the way to Le Groi du Roi, cause I got too drunk and fell asleep, and my friends couldn't find me. A guy ended up picking me up, and gave me money. I must have looked miserable. ^.~ Aaron

Nesting flamingoes and a beautiful mediterranean town? We'll have to put it on our list.
