If you are visiting Tsitsikamma for a day and would like to take one or two shorter hikes, start out with the Waterfall Trail. It is actually the first day of the Otter Trail, so you will get a little glimpse of that as well!

The Waterfall Trail is between 5 and 6km round trip. You will enjoy some unbelievably beautiful views along this rugged coast until you will reach the waterfall. You are able to swim over there, so take your swimming suit if you wish to cool down. Although it is not a demanding hike, proper hiking shoes is a must because you must do some stone-hopping along the way.

I suggest you to go for this trail in the morning. Why? Because you won't walk through the forest and there is nothing to protect you from the hot sun (besides sun screen, of course!!). It can get awfully hot during the day and you can get burned easily (it happened to me, although I don't usually get burned!). In any case, bring plenty of sun screen and water!

On the photo you can see some additional information about this bridge - about the different cables. Another piece of interesting information is the fact that if you would have 3600 people on the bridge, it would break. My question is, how to fit all those 3600 on the bridge in the first place? Hehee.

Once you have reached to the suspension bridge, you have concluded the Suspension Trail. However, you can cross the bridge and take a very steep climb to a lookout point. It is really worth it as the views from the top are simply magnificent!

If you a lucky, you can spot some dolphines or whales from the view point. Or so I was told. I didn't see any, so I can't talk from my own experience in this case.
