Most locals refer to Santo Domingo as "La Capital" - it is one of the largest cities in the West Indies where you can find a magnificent Colonial District (which is under UNESCO protection), many theaters, museums, hotels, malls cinemas and shopping malls.

Founded in 1498 by Bartholomew Columbus (Christopher Columbus� brother), Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic's capital, has the distinction of being the oldest colonial city in the Americas.

Today Santo Domingo is home to over 3 million people. It is a busy and vibrant city that should offer every visitor something for his/her taste!
