  • With its 328 meters the Skytower is not only the landmark of Auckland but also the tallest free-standing building of the southern hemisphere.

Since its opening in March 1997 Skytower is used for broadcasting radio and television and attracts visitors from all over the world who have a gorgeous look over Auckland from its observation platform. On the platform you'll find a glass-bottom area. It's a strange feeling to stand there and look down.

The building is designed to withstand high wind speed and earthquakes. It's said that tower would not collapse even after an 8.0 earthquake.

Hi Bernd, it was great to see you again at the VT meeting in Frankfurt last Saturday. Say hello to Andrea for me. --- Interesting tips on the "City of Sails". I didn't realize such a large percentage of the NZ population lives there.
