Marazion ia a village best known as the access point to St. Michael's Mount. From here at low tide you can walk across the acient causeway as pilgrims have done for centuries. At hightide it is here that the tiny ferry boats dock to take you to the island or for a little extra on a longer trip around it.
In ancient times Marazion was known as Market Jew. It is believed that it was connected to the Mount by a land bridge and known as Ictis, its Roman name. It is probably the oldest known settlement in Britain. Ictis is mentioned in the writings of the Sicilian-Greek historian Diodorus in the early part of the 1st century BC as exporting tin to the Mediterranean countries.
By capitalising on the tin trade and the religious importance of The Mount Marazion became a large bustling trade centre, when Penzance - her better known and now larger neighbour was just a cluster of fishing huts.

What a beautiful palace kinda thing(St Michael's Mount). Had i seen this place earlier, i would have gone there while i was in UK.
Just had a long weekend here and stayed in a hotel over looking the mount.Took loads of pics.Had a great time.Enjoyed the local village pub and shops.
good story on st michaels mount
I'd like to walk across the causeway, I've only taken a boat across. I've a lovely silver ring from a shop in Marazion.
Had heard Cornwall was really nice but I had delayed going there.
Now must see it myself :)
A very beautiful place indeed..
