Favorite Thing: If you have a busy itinerary and do not have the time to wander around and discover Jerusalem for yourself, there are walking tours available. I only officially went on one such tour, but occasionally as a tour group passed, I would tail along for a few minutes to listen to the guide. Cheeky I know, but I was living there at the time, so felt it was "my City".
The tour I took was led by a Jewish guy called David, probably in his late fifties with glasses, white hair and a short white beard. I'm describing him to you because his tours are amazing and if you can find him I recommend taking his tour. He used to collect his groups every day from just inside Jaffa Gate, past the taxi rank and up a slight ramp to your right. There was a sign here announcing "David's Tours". This mans' knowledge and love of the city really comes through and I am sure he is still there as Jerusalem obviously means so much to him.
Don't forget long trousers ( for men and women) and long sleeved shirts otherwise you will not be allowed into the beautiful Armenian Churches or some of the other religious sites.
