Cuenca has been described as having an eternal spring. Many of the Guayaquilenos escape the heat of that city to relax in the cooler climes of Cuenca, meeting the Quitenos that have gone there to warm up a little.
Cuenca is a walking city, where tourist sites and museums abound. There are restaurants and bars a'plenty, and a tourist here will have no trouble staying occupied.
Just beware that, as is true in most parts of Ecuador, almost everything is closed on Sundays. |
| | As you walk around the city, you will find yourself confronted with towering cathedrals and colonial buildings. Getting lost doesn't have to be such a bad thing! |
| | Cuenca has retained much of its charm, despite being on the main tourist track. Many of the people still wear traditional clothing, and Andean music seems to come from every restaurant, shop, and city park. |

calcaf38 Wed Sep 12, 2007 00:27 UTC Hi Damon, to satisfy your morbid curiosity, I started my Cuenca page with the warnings! Oh, and I saw the fog on the way to Guayaquil, really crazy fog in the evening. It took us 5 hours to do the trip. Take care amigo -- | barryg23 Tue Sep 19, 2006 19:31 UTC Very helful tips, thanks. I wouldn't fancy driving through that fog. | Maillekeukeul Thu May 12, 2005 10:52 UTC That's definitely the place where I want to stay... Still, I'm a bit surprised by the prices you've mentionned... Isn't it cheaper or have you mentionned the price per week ??? |
