If I had to name a very relaxing getaway place... This one would be it. Holbox island is one of the top ten not much explored spots in the Peninsula, it's an almost 40 kilometers land located between water from Gulf of Mexico (not Gulf of TEXAAASS!!!) and the Caribean. It's separated from the 1-piece-land with the Yalahau's Lagoon, there is a ferry from chiquila twon that for a very low fee takes you back and forth to the island...Holbox belongs to the exo-preserved area of Yum Balam... Population: about 1,500 people hanging around...straight streets, wooden houses, few restaurants, couple hotels and a very amazing number of golf-carts driven by kids will welcome you to this small piece of hidden.. almost hidden paradise. Maybe, you will meet an european who married a mexican fishing guy to stay in the island with no departure... |
Island Tours 1. Isla Pasión 2. Ojo de Agua Yalahau 3. Punta Mosquito Ask the fishing guys there or the hotels, there is plenty of people who might like to take you there and show you around.. the trips are pretty good, bring binoculars and a very good zoom for your camera, there is a place for bird watching, very very interesting spot...everybody told me that but in that unforgettable backpacking trip, we didn't have the resources to everything! |
