Tivoli deserved a better page here on VT, especially because I live near this nice historical town :)
Older than Rome, Tivoli is placed on the Aniene river to the east of Rome, on the Monti Tiburtini hills. That's why the air is fresher than in Rome!!!
Tivoli is one of the most popular day trips from Rome and is famous for the Villa d'Este and the Villa Adriana (Hadrian's Villa). However there are many other things to see, such as the still visible fourth century BC town wall and the temples (Temple of Vesta and Temple of the Sybil) from the second century BC. |
