I visited Piran on my way from Bled, Slovenia to Venice which is just across the Adriatic Sea. It was a nice place to spend a day. Here is a closer look at the time from its harbor. One enters the town just a few feet from here. There is a main road that follow along the south side. I stayed in a building just along the harbor.

Piran

Along the south side (left in this picture), there are many restaurants. The harbor would be on the left of this picture. Also, there are spots where there are steps into the sea. On the morning I awoke I walked down and jumped in for a nice, cool and relaxing dip.

One can also walk about a 20-30 minutes south from here to other small towns, such as Portoroz. Here there is a beach, casino, stores, and is more developed in general.

Here is a view from the bus. Fortunately they have this service as trains do not reach this far. The bus station is only a few minutes walk from the harbor.

Portoroz Off The Beaten Path (1)

Just down the road from Piran is Portoroz which is a touristy beach town. It has a little bit more activity than Piran.... more travel advice

Nice pages of Piran! Next time you'll be in Slovenia you are welcome to visit east part of Slovenia too - like Celje, Maribor ... I wish you many happy journeys in the future.
