A wonderful weekend get away...or more?!

by ocean_fire - last update: Dec 2, 2007

The endless beach

Juliana in the sun :o)
I wondered what to start off with...hard decision to make as there are so many wonderful spots in Valencia...I decided in favour of the sea...Considering my love for the water be it sea or ocean, all the cities by the water gain a spot in my heart much quicklier :o) Eventhough it was Nov, it was great to just lay on the sand in 17 degrees Celsius in the warm sun...thinking at home it's minus something ...hehe.
I really want to come back in the summer to check out the water because it looked simply wonderful: wide beach, incredibly silky sand...ahhhh..I tried the water but it was too cold for me unfortunately..maybe with a few drinks on board I would've gone in :o)
Virgins Square

Valencia - The Old Town

It's an amazingly well preserved Old Center..and pretty wide. It was a great surprise to find such an extensive old part of a relatively not so big city. This is The Virgin Square and we dropped by accidently...we just entered the old city by Q Towers (forgot the name cause I don't have my map with me, but I will ammend this) and walked down the Cavalliers Street and ended up in this sunny square. I do recommend the paellas from the restaurant you see the stands of(it's the one that sells also "crepes"=pan cakes). Great for only 8 EUR!(there's a pic of the paella we ate in the tips section)

The Cathedral's tower

For only 2 EUR you can climb up the Cathedral's tower. It's a great view from up there..I'll put some more pics in the tips section!
It was very cute that when we were eating in the Virgin Square, there were some games with kids gathering up baloons. Once we climbed the stairs of the M Tower (ammend this later, too), the kids released the baloons. It was an amazing view to see all those baloons flying up,up and away...!

Pros:"everything is a PRO!!!!"
Cons:"none....well except for what I've heard from my mom when she visited. My lovely conational gypsies that you have to watch your bags&wallets from them in the summer time. Now there wasn't a single one:o) Perks of off-season travelling"
