    • If you must see all the tourist-y places (Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, etc.) take one of the bus tours on your first day (the one leaving from the Green Park Tube Station outside of the Ritz is the best). Most of these places aren't worth seeing on the inside when there are so many cool museums to explore, but you get to see what everyone will ask you about when you get home.

    • London is littered with museums, my favorite being the National Gallery, but it depends on what you like. Be sure to check the exhibition schedule: normally, the National Portrait Gallery ain't my thing, but they had this exhibition on Cecil Beaton that was fantastic. The essentials: the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Tate Britain and the Tate Modern, the V & A. There are a bunch of special interest museums too (science, war, natural history, hostory of london, etc).
