The city is located 250 kms south of Paris (2 hours by car thanks to the highway -the blue strip on the map). With 50,000 inhabitants it is the main city of Indre (they are named as "castelroussines" for women and "castelroussins" for men).

Otherwise Châteauroux is at the heart of three regions : Châteauroux est située au cœur de trois régions naturelles : "La Champagne Berrichonne", a cereal loft, "la Brenne", the land of the 1000 ponds, and "le Boischaut", a green bocage.
